Spider Veins Symptoms e1314911771960 Varicose Veins SymptomsSpider veins do not seem to develop without some type of pain occurring in patients beforehand.  Typically one of the most widespread symptoms  that shows that spider veins might be about to develop is a sensation of pain in the leg which can result from having to stand for an extended period time.

In the majority of instances, however, people do not experience any type of pain and the spider veins just develop.  Depending on the patient’s hereditary factors spider veins can show up without any prior signs or symptoms.

While most people don’t experience any pain when they have spider veins, they will show up as bluish-purple lines that resemble the web of a spider.  The legs are not the only part of the body that can be affected by spider veins.  They are also common on some on the face, ankles or thighs.

Because the veins in the legs are responsible for carrying a person and their weight the veins in the legs are much more vulnerable to becoming varicose or developing spider veins.  If a person is overweight, this makes them at an even greater risk of getting one or both.

Your legs can begin to ache and feel extremely tired so when this happens it is important to try to sit down when you can and elevate the feet.  This will allow the blood to move easier back towards the heart as it is supposed to.  You can also try to take frequent walks to get the blood to flow back through the veins in the legs.

Spider veins are not as predominate as varicose veins but for a lot of people they can still be troublesome.  There are several treatment options available for spider veins and choosing one of these options is a good start to treating them.  The sooner you treat the spider veins the more likely they are to fade or disappear.

Surgery can be an option that some choose to get rid of spider veins.  There is laser surgery that is available.  In some cases a person might only have to change their lifestyle.  Whatever option you choose, for cosmetic or medical reasons you should consult with your doctor for the options that are right for you.

Some things that can be helpful in reducing spider veins are:

  • Maintain a healthy diet – Eat foods that are high in fiber that will keep your body healthy.  Do not drink an excessive amount of alcohol or eat a lot of sugar.
  • Exercise regularly – Keep your blood flowing better by exercising at least 30 minutes per day.  This will allow your body to stay in motion and not allow your blood to accumulate in one spot causing spider veins.
  • Avoid heaving lifting – Do not lift objects that are heavy that put a strain on your body.
  • Maintain a healthy weight – This goes hand in hand with maintaining a healthy diet.  Eating foods that are high in fiber and low in sugar will allow you to stay healthy.
